Kaspersky Is Upgrading: Check Out What's New

Before heading to the beach this summer, you’d probably like to have your digital security and protection to date. Luckily, Kaspersky, a leading provider of cybersecurity solutions has exciting news to share in that regard.

The company has announced name changes and improvements to its well-known Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Kaspersky Internet Security, and Kaspersky Total Security. The upcoming transition to the rebranded software will happen on July 11, 2023. So, get ready to experience enhanced security and a more user-friendly intuitive interface!

What You Should Know about the New Kaspersky Products

Kaspersky is revamping its consumer product lineup with new names and branding. Home users will say hello to Kaspersky Standard, Kaspersky Plus and Kaspersky Premium – the updated versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Kaspersky Internet Security and Kaspersky Total Security respectively. With these changes, Kaspersky hopes to provide a more explicit distinction between the different products while still delivering top-tier security solutions.

Remember:

  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus changes to Kaspersky Standard.
  • Kaspersky Internet Security becomes Kaspersky Plus.
  • Kaspersky Total Security evolves to Kaspersky Premium.

The transition is planned to run as smoothly as possible. From July 11, 2023, active licence holders will get a notification to accept the automatic migration to the corresponding new product. Kaspersky assures that customers will continue to receive the most up-to-date security service without interruption for the duration of their subscription.

Migration Options and Considerations about the New Kaspersky Products

Automatic migration is the default option. After the customers accept the update sent via notification and reset their devices, they will activate the new product.

However, Kaspersky understands that some users may have specific requirements or concerns. As a result, they provide the choice of not migrating and continuing to use the current (old) products as long as Kaspersky supports them.

It’s important to know that only new products will be available for sale after July 11, 2023. The old product can then be used until the expiration date. Upon expiration, you will be able to buy only the new product plans.

Kaspersky’s Enhanced User Experience

One of the most compelling aspects of the Kaspersky product changes is the enhanced user experience and the elegant new interface.

The company has made a more user-friendly redesign so customers can navigate and access essential features without difficulties for a seamless and enjoyable cybersecurity experience.

The clean and sleek interface improves productivity and ease of use, so you'll feel in control of your digital security at every step.

New Kaspersky Features

Although the functionalities will mostly remain the same, there is still a range of new additional features. These include advanced threat detection, privacy protection, secure online banking, and more.

The feature set depends on your subscription plan. Kaspersky Standard provides Security & Performance and the most basic Privacy features. Kaspersky Plus adds the rest of the Privacy features and an unlimited VPN subscription, while Kaspersky Premium contains all functions, plus it is the only plan including features in the Identity category.

In the Security category, the main improvements are internal and not apparent to the users but enhance protection, particularly against new threats and ransomware.

The new features in the Performance category help speed up your device, find duplicate files and free up disk space, tidy up your apps, and optimise Windows startup. There are also tools for backup and warning whether your HDD or SDD is about to break down. The “Game” and “Do not Disturb” modes allow you to play or work without distraction.

The most existing new features in the Privacy category are Data Leak Checker (checks if your personal information is part of the latest data leaks), Devices on My Network (warns you if a stranger's device connects to your network), Private Browsing and Social Privacy. The VPN app, part of Kaspersky Plus and Kaspersky Premium plans, is significantly improved, too. These plans provide also a premium version of Kaspersky Password Manager.

With Kaspersky Premium, users can enjoy the Identity Protection Wallet to store sensitive documents, the Safe Kids app (free one-year subscription offered as a bonus) and the premium service of 24/7 customer support.
